Global Goals Ambassador, Patrick Lal Hopes To Empower Youths

Global Goals Action Ambassador for Fiji, Patrick Lal, is calling on youths to take a collective stand to mitigate climate change and promote sustainable development.
The 22-year-old from Nadi, at- tended the Global Goals Action Summit in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, late last month.
Mr Lal said he aims to organise workshops for youth groups around Fiji to help and empower them to work towards the global sustainable development goals.
“I will also be registering my own youth group where we will work to promote sustainable development and climate change mitigation through awareness and community based programmes,” Mr Lal said.
“I am also trying to organise a climate change conference locally with climate change activists around Fiji.”
With the theme “Designing Youth Future for 2030” the Global Goals Summit aimed to engage youth from the Asia-Pacific region to become agents of change with the purpose of reaching seven global goals by 2030.
Mr Lal is currently a medical student at the University of Fiji.

The 7 sustainable development goals targeted are:
– climate action,
– no poverty,
– zero hunger,
– good health and well-being, quality education,
– decent work and economic growth
– and sustainable cities and communities.
