Deans Trophy Advice
OLD boys at a prominent Suva high school are in a dilemma over the news of the hiring of Nacanieli Saumi to be technical adviser of its Under-18 team.
BTL highlighted yesterday that Mr Saumi is on a three-year contract with Deans Trophy Champion Ratu Kadavulevu School, which will be holding trials.
But according to old boys from the Suva school Mr Saumi has already been working with their student ruggers in theory and other sessions, The OB said that parents of the school were paying Mr Saumi $2000 a session.
One Old boy asked why the “Copy Cat.” Another whose son is a sure starter for the U18 team said there was the fear that RKS will already have a counter if the Lodoni-based U18 side and the Suva school eventually meet up in the knockout stages of the Deans Trophy competition. Questions, questions. Is it a question of money talks on one hand and a matter of loyalty in the final analysis?
