Sailasa Kalouniviti, 23, aims to go a step up at the Pacific Games in Samoa in July.

The Nadivakarua, Bua native won bronze medal in high jump at the 2015 Pacific Games in Papua New Guinea.

He attended the Shop N Save Grand Prix at Churchill Park, Lautoka on Saturday.

His high school coach told him to take up high jump so he made a switch from long jump

Marist Brothers High School was where it all started for him and is grateful to coach Benidito Qumi.

“I started in 2009 but it was not until 2012 when I first competed at national level.

“My aim at the Pacific Games is to do my best and win a medal.

“I won a bronze medal in the last Pacific Games in PNG and I aim to go up a notch in Samoa. My competitor is my friend Malakai Kaiwalu and Penial Richards from PNG.”

Sailasa personal best is 2.05metres.
