Fiji PM Stresses Importance Of Fiji’s Role In UN Human Rights Council

 

Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama has told Fijians in Geneva how important Fiji’s vice-president post and membership in the United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC) is.

He thanked them for the traditional welcome ceremony.

Most of them live in France and went to Geneva to welcome Mr Bainimarama.

Mr Bainimarama was to deliver his address to the UNHRC late last night.

After the welcome ceremony, Mr Bainimarama engaged with the Fijian children.

One of them, Eshan Prasad, whose mother Sandya Prasad works for UN Office for Disaster Reduction (UNISDR), asked him about plastics.

Eshan asked questions about the ocean, the dangers presented by plastics and what Fiji was doing about it.

Mr Bainimarama outlined Fiji’s role and efforts in leading the campaign to preserve the ocean.
