Business Told: Major Projects by WAF in West

Some of the major Water Authority of Fiji projects being carried out in the Western Division were outlined in Lautoka yesterday.
WAF held two forum sessions with its business and domestic – residential customers at the Tanoa Waterfront Hotel, Conference Room.
Projects carried out in the Western Division:
Sewerage Road in Olosara. Work in still in progress for this project which has a budget of $315,000.
The laying of new water pipes will benefit 120 people staying in 20 households.
Malaqereqere, Sigatoka
The project, which had a budget of $300,000 has been commissioned and handed over.
The project, which involved the construction of a water pump station, storage reservoir and a gravity main would benefit 320 people living in 60 households.
Kerebula, Nadi. This project, which involves the laying of pipes is still ongoing will benefit 180 people.
Toge and Balevuto, Ba
This $600,000 project which involves the extension of the current reticulation is ongoing. It will benefit the villages of Toge and Balevuto.
Elevuka to Khalsa Mains Upgrading in Ba. The allocated budget for the project is $1.3 million and involves the replacement and upgrading of pipes between these two locations.
The project is still ongoing.
The project will benefit 9666 residents who live in Elevuka, Navatu, Wailailai, Etatoko, Lavuci, Vatiyaka, Varavu, Mataniqara, Sigave, Vadravadra, Natalecake, Sasa, Sorokoba, Togalevu, Votua, Nawaqarua and Natutu.
Matalevu Mains, Tavua
This project, with a budget of $978,252 involves the laying of pipes from the Tavua Reservoir.
Vatukoula Gold Mines extension
This $772,648 project is ongoing and is to extend the mains with the installation of a pressure pump.
Yaladro Mains Extension – This project which had a budget of $546,688 is completed involved the laying of new pipes to benefit 50 people.
Volivoli Phase One and Two – The biggest project with a budget of $3 million has been completed.
Most of this area was a non-metered area as they had their own source but which got affected during the change in weather patterns.
The project will benefit 140 homes along with the Volivoli Primary School, Vunitivi Wharf (Ellington), motels, subdivisions and many more.
