Charges Dropped Against Former Sun Insurance CEO

Charges against the former Sun Insurance chief executive officer Lolesh Sharma was withdrawn by the Fiji Independent Commission Against Corruption (FICAC) yesterday.
FICAC state prosecutor, Sam Savumiramira, filed a nolle prosequi (a formal notice of abandonment by a plaintiff or prosecutor of all or part of a suit) in the Suva Magistrates Court
yesterday, which was granted by Magistrate Waleen George.
Sharma was charged by FICAC with one count of attempt to undue influence.
It was alleged that on October 4, 2017, Sharma attempted to hinder or interfere with the free exercise or performance of the political right of the employees of Sun Insurance Limited that was relevant to the 2018 General Election.
