The Fiji Airways Fijian 7s players have been the target of a top club in Europe.

This was confirmed last night by Fiji Rugby Union chief executive officer John O’Connor indicating that a club had expressed its interest on captain, Kalione Nasoko and Mesulame Kunavula.

It’s likely the duo will join the club in November for a month’s trial before anything on their contract can be finalised. The FRU is currently in talks with the club agent.

No guts, no glory

Fiji Airways Fijian 7s winger Asaeli Tuivoka departed last night to join the Gareth Baber coached- side in Las Vegas.

The 23-year-old Nakavika, Namosi native told SUNsports that his dream to don the Fijian jumper started at a very young age.

“I grew up watching my cousins Setefano Cakau and Leo Nakasau along with my brother Abele Yalayalatabua as they played for Fiji,” he said.

“ That motivated me. It was not an easy journey to come this far. I trained a lot, made a lot of sacrifice and it even meant not to eat well but it is all for this- no pain, no gain.”

Despite being the last player to join the team, Tuivoka said he’s hopeful of making the 13-member squad.

“It’s going to be tough competition within the team,” he added.

Tuivoka has urged fans to rally behind the team as they prepare for Las Vegas and followed by Vancouver.

His love for rugby began at the age of 6 when he represented Namosi Secondary School. He made his debut for Namosi Provincial XV team at the age 19. For 7s he has played for Police and Wardens .

Tuivoka biggest break was when he twice played for the Fiji Airways Fijian Drua last year when they won the Australian National Rugby Championship.
