Five new football clubs have joined this year’s Nadi Football Association club competition.

This was confirmed by one of the newly-elected Nadi FA vice –presidents, Mohammed Mohinrafiq after the Nadi FA’s annual general meeting (AGM) at the Nadi Sangam Primary School on February 24.

Mohinrafiq said he was grateful towards the enthusiasm showed by the people of Nadi.

The newly registered clubs are: Votualevu Lions, Mayflower Navo, Saunaka Tigers, United Football Club and Yako Football Club.

“I want to thank them for coming on board and there was no objection on their inclusion,” Mohinrafiq said.

“We encourage more participation from clubs to join Nadi Football so that we have a competitive level of competition.

“We want them to get them involved and for soccer to be the winner at the end of the day.

“We had 21 registered clubs and with these new five we now have 26 clubs.”

Mohinrafiq added that he was also grateful to be elected as one of the new vice-presidents for Nadi FA. He has assured the council that he would do his level best to move the association forward.

The Nadi FA newly-elected vice-presidents are: Mohammed Mohinrafiq, Azeem Khan and Munsami Chetty.

“I’m thankful the AGM has been completed and as a Nadi Football family, we should collectively move forward for the betterment of the association,” he said.

“The other two new vice-presidents are very capable candidates and I want to thank the club delegates for having confidence in us.”

Mohinrafiq said their next focus is on the local league competition which is to get underway in March.
