Macuata Rugby Union To Work With Commission

The Macuata Rugby Union has implemented a five-year development plan and has involved the Fiji National Sports Commission for assistance. This was heard during the MRU’s recent annual general meeting.
MRU chairman Usaia Turaganivalu said the reasons for involving the Commission is that they have been helping out with the training of coaches and also have supplied some sports equipment.
“The sports equipment will cater Macuata Rugby throughout the season”, Turaganivalu said.
“Our competition kicks off on March 9 at Subrail Park, in Labasa. The competition will go on to August.”
He said 28 clubs have confirmed their participation and there will be two pools- one pool will have 14 teams.
Turaganivalu said for this year Macuata will play seven games in the Vodafone Vanua Championship.
“We’ll have four home games and three away games. Our club games will prepare us well for the Vodafone Challenge. We hope to continue to promote rugby in our province of Macuata.”
