The Pacific Flying School family gathered to commemorate the lives of pilot and flight instructor, Iliesa Tawalo and student pilot Merelesita Lutu yesterday.

Staff, students and families turned out in numbers at the Hanger at the CAAF Compound in Nadi.

A memorial picture of Mr Tawalo and Ms Lutu was unveiled by the Pacific Flying School owner, Tim Joyce.

The duo were killed when their Cessna 172 aircraft crashed in the mountainous region of Delaikoro, Macuata, on February 26 last year.

Their bodies were recovered more than a week later.

Mr Joyce said their lives had not only brought people together but has also enabled them to move forward.

“I was touched by the many people who came today to remember the lives of Iliesa and Mere. I think it is part of grieving process to overcome and accept what has happened.”
