Fiji Rugby: Mocenacagi On Standby

Suspended utility player Sevuloni Mocenacagi has been named the 13th player in the Fiji Airways Fijian 7s side to play in today’s USA 7s in Las Vegas.
Mocenecagi is unavailable for the pool matches, serving out the remaining three games suspension carried over from the Sydney 7s. He will be ready for a call up should the need arise on second day of competition.
Head coach Gareth Baber has opted for big forwards of Mesulame Kunavula, Paula Dranisinukula, Josua Vakurinabili, Kalione Nasoko and Meli Derenalagi.
Baber said power and physicality would be a key on the narrower surface of the Sam Boyd Stadium.
Also joining the forwards is rookier Navosa lad Isoa Tabu who is going to make his debut in the World Sevens Series. In the backs, Baber has gone for wily halfback Jerry Tuwai, Waisea Nacuqu, Terio Tamani, Alasio Naduva, Aminiasi Tuimaba and Filimoni Botitu.
Namosi winger Asaeli Tuivoka is suffering from a flu and should be ready for the Canada 7s in Vancouver next weekend. With a solid week on the training track, Baber says, his players are looking forward to the challenge ahead.
“All players have prepared well and shown focus over our time here in Vegas so far and all are fit and ready to go.
“We had our captain’s run and stadium visit this morning and will use the rest of the day to create focus, then tomorrow it’s about delivery.”
