A separate company will be solely in charge of the 2021 Netball World Youth Cup which will be held in Suva.

The office of the vice-president technical was discussed and was passed during the Fiji Netball Association annual general meeting at the Fiji Association of Sports and National Olympic Committee house yesterday.

“We have created a new position that is vice –president technical, “association’s president Wainikiti Bogidrau said.

“We hope people who are committed can come onboard. We are all volunteers for the sport and we hope that the person who will come in as our vice –president technical is equally committed and can take netball forward.

“It’s going to be a separate company, have its own office and will run independently from Fiji Netball.

“The technical office should ensure we have volunteers, bench officials, umpires to organise the competition during the two weeks.

“We will finalise our proposal and will hand it in to Government.”

Support staff

Bogidrau also confirmed they will bring in a specific netball physiotherapist, mental coaches and a spiritual adviser and work alongside performance analyst Bobby Willcox ahead of the Netball World Cup which will be held in England on July 12-21.

The appointment was made possible through the Pacific Sports Partnership programme with the Australian government.

The deal was sealed when Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison during his visit in January announced the extension of the Pacific Sports Partnership (PSP) programme to include Fiji, with a high performance focus on netball and rugby league.

“Major portion from this funding will support the supporting staff,” Bogidrau added.
