Fiji President and First Lady Visit Rotuma’s Senior Citizens

President, Major General (Ret’d) Jioji Konusi Konrote and the First Lady, Sarote Konrote, on their second day on the island of Rotuma visited senior citizens on the island.
“Before we left Suva I was planning with my wife, Sarote, that we should visit the senior citizens of Rotuma because Government is serious about taking care of our elderly citizens through its various social reforms,” President Konrote said.
“I felt that I am obliged to visit the senior citizens of Rotuma since I’ve been away from my home island for years because of my busy schedule as the President of the Republic of Fiji.
“Although the main aim of my tour is to continue advocating the planting of ‘Four Million Trees in Four years’ which I launched last month, it is also a good opportunity to visit our senior citizens on the island since we’ve been away from them for a year.”
President Konrote accompanied by the First Lady visited several senior citizens on Rotuma, one of whom was 79-year-old Susana Makrava.
