Sugar Cane Growers Fund: Defaults On Loans Worry

Sugar Cane Growers Fund is committed in revitalisation of the industry with all the stakeholders and in particular with the cane farmers.
However, the Fund has some level of arrears accounts that needs some constructive and practical repayment arrangements.
The chief executive officer, Raj Sharma highlighted the major activities involved in monitoring loans and recovering arrears in case of default.
He said whilst some of the growers have made arrangement they are failing to honour such arrangements.
He has again requested the growers if they have difficulties, they should visit the district offices but end of the day loans need to be paid.
He also mentioned quite a number of letters have been written to the growers and due to change in postal address, and as such letters have not reached.
Therefore, they have run a radio commercial creating awareness for the growers to check their accounts.
The Fund where possible will try to assist the growers but also will take necessary action for the recovery of the loans, he added.
