Fiji had the opportunity to showcase tourism Fijian Made Products through the International Mediterranean Tourism Market 2019 Exhibition.

This attracted more than 50,000 visitors from many parts of the world.

The Exhibition that was held in Tel Aviv Israel, and pro­vided Fiji’s Embassy in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, with the unique opportunity to promote Fijian made products as well as Fiji as a tourism destination.

Led by Counsellor Ropate Ca­bealawa, the Fijian delegation displayed a booth decorated with a beautifully designed masi as a backdrop. It has a beautiful array of hand woven Fijian fans, vari­ous sizes and shapes of wooden war clubs, miniature hand craft­ed tanoas with a video display showing the picturesque sights and the beautiful sounds of Fiji surrounded by sandy beaches, cascading waterfalls, long wind­ing white water rivers and natu­ral dark thick forests.

The Fijian made items on dis­play included locally made prod­ucts and an assortment of Fiji tourism industry information brochures.

Interest generated over Fiji as a tourism destination and for Fiji­an made products were immense with great potentials to secure linkages with international tour­ism organisations.

With such interest being generat­ed, the Fijian display booth was no doubt a major hit and quite popu­lar with the visitors to the Exhibi­tion and Conference Centre

Fiji Water, Pure Fiji products, the blue Fijian flag and the melodious bula voices of Fiji’s peacekeeping troops serving under the United Nations Disengagement Observer Force (UNDOF) were Fiji’s major unique selling points of its popu­larity during the exhibition and in the Mediterranean countries.

The international tourism market is the largest annual professional official exhibition for the tourism market in Israel. It promotes both domestic and foreign tourism as well as strengthening cooperation among tourism agencies around the world.

The Fijian Embassy Addis Ababa used this opportunity to intro­duce Fiji’s tourism and business sectors to the potential investors from around the world and it was a platform to showcase Fijian made products, to create awareness and portray the beauty of the Fiji’s art and culture to forge tourism and business links and partnerships with potential tourists and inves­tors.
