The Water Authority of Fiji (WAF) has successfully completed repairs to the leaking 375mm wastewater rising main located before the bridge to Denarau Island in Nadi.

A total of ten crew members from the WAF Wastewater Department in Nadi mobilised to the leakage site at 5 pm Tuesday (05/03) and excavation works began from 7 pm onwards until the leaking pipeline was visible and repair works began and were completed as of 8 am Wednesday morning
(06/03).

During the repair period, a total of three bailing trucks were continuously bailing from the Regent Wastewater Pumping Station, this was done to minimise the flow into the pipeline to allow repairs as well as to prevent leakages.

The WAF appreciates the cooperation from the various utilities such as the Fiji Roads Authority (FRA), Energy Fiji Limited (EFL) and Telecom Fiji Limited (TFL) for their quick action and support.

The Authority would also like to thank the Denarau Corporation Limited (DCL) for the assistance provided during the repair period, and it also apologises for any inconvenience caused to the members of the public and visitors as well as workers to and at Denarau Island.
