The Assistant Minister for iTaukei Affairs, Selai Adimaitoga opened the Macuata Provincial Council meeting at Kshatriya hall, Labasa, yesterday.

It was an honour and privilege for Ms Adimaitoga to open the meeting for the Macuata Province.

The Ministry of iTaukei Affairs has a new vision “a transformed iTaukei family for a better Fiji”.  “That is the foundation of service that the ministry would like to embark on and place its importance on the upbringing and the teachings from our very own homes,” Ms Adimaitoga said.

“Fiji is the first country in the Pacific to be part of the “40th Session Human Rights Council,” that was recently held in (Geneva), Switzerland.

Every citizen needs to know that the service provided by the Government is for everyone, and not for a specific group of people or faith group,” she said.

There are five pillars of service for the iTaukei; good governance, well being, economic empowerment, conservation, vanua and traditional leadership.

Assistant Minister Adimaitoga pleaded with the Macuata District Representatives that the well –being of children begins from home and not to fully rely on outside assistance. They need to have wisdom and prepare them well to address climate change.
