Staff members from the Fiji Marriott Resort Momi Bay yesterday donated medical equipment worth more than $4000 to the Tau Nursing Station in Momi Bay.

Katrin Dressino who is the wife of Fiji Marriott Resort Momi Bay general manager, Silvano Dressino, has been the driving force behind the Marriott Serve 360 project. The project includes the donation of medical equipment of a brand new defibrillator and oximeter.

The resort has so far helped Tau Nursing Station with more than $11,000 worth of assistance with the handover of the equipment being recent.

Mrs Dressino said the resort had adopted Tau Village. It has about 400 villagers and it had the closest nursing station to the resort.

“That is why the hotel decided to support this health station and adopt it as a bigger project,” she said.

“We believe that we have to work with sustainable energy rather than spending money on electricity bills so it saves the village a lot of money.

“We visited and asked what they really need in the health station and they came up with the defibrillator and oximeter, a sink for the baby clinic, fencing of the compound because the animals were coming in at night time and the ceiling fan.

“So we were very lucky that we had a group who were here last year to support us with some funds especially with the medical equipment.”

Mr Dressino said the Tokatoka Nahau clan was part of Tau Village.

Village headman, Meli Limalevu thanked the resort for their assitance.
