Matai Shines For Police Win

Fiji Airways Fijian 7s extended squad member Rusiate Matai was in top form as Police White beat Veilomani Combo 19-5 to hoist the Uluinakau 7s title at Prince Charles Park, Nadi yesterday.
Matai dazzled the Veilomani defence to score the first try of the Cup final.
Few minutes later he assisted team-mate Belasio Vukiwai to extend their lead with the second try while Meli Kurisaru’s conversions made it 14-0 at halftime.
In the second half, wily halfback and captain Livai Ikanikoda dived over to score their final try with the conversion going wide.
Veilomani Combo replied with a consolation try as they bowed out 19-7.
“I thank God for the win today,” Ikanikoda told SUNsports.
