Mother Of 2-Year-Old Victim And Partner Charged With Murder
A Police statement said the victim was allegedly found by her 20-year-old mother, who is the first accused, lying unconscious in their Nakasi home on the night of the 5th of March, 2019.
She was rushed to the Valelevu Health Center where she was pronounced dead on arrival.
Police confirmed that a post mortem examination revealed the child had sustained serious injuries resulting in her death.
“Investigators upon further enquiry discovered the child’s 20-year-old mother and her 28-year-old partner had allegedly been fighting on the night the child was found,” the statement said.
It is alleged that the child was caught in the middle of the dispute and was allegedly assaulted.
Both have been charged with murder and will be produced at the Nasinu Magistrates Court tomorrow.
