Vuniwaqa Sets National Women’s Expo Timetable

The 2019 National Women’s Expo will take place from June 12 to June 14 at the FMF National Gymnasium, Suva.
This was confirmed by the Minister for Women, Children and Poverty Alleviation Mereseini Vuniwaqa, who launched the 5th National Women’s Expo during the International Women’s Day dinner celebration at the Novotel Suva Lami Bay on Friday night.
Organisers of the National Expo expect to showcase 500 women artisans from all over Fiji which entails the 176 licenced artisans along with the emerging 324 artisans.
“After the 4th Expo we have licensed more than 170 women with the Fijian Made branding,” Ms Vuniwaqa said.
Graduates
“We hope to graduate some of these women from this expo but will continue to work with them to ensure that they are well established entrepreneurs.”
She added women were able to rake in a total of $438,696.20 as income earned during the three-day event last year.
“We aim to keep improving the standard of the expo, so this year we have commenced work to put together a training package for our licensed women and for the 20 designers for the Fiji Rural Women’s Fashion Show.
“In addition, with partners we intend to strengthen our work to link the grassroots women who come through the National Women’s Expo to markets.”
