The Embassy of the People’s Republic of China donated $12,000 worth of office equipment to the Returned Soldiers Ex-Servicemen Association Club (RSESA) yesterday.

Chinese Ambassador Qian Bo handed over the equipment to the Minister for Defence, National Security and Foreign Affairs Inia Seruiratu at the association’s headquarters in Walu Bay.

The equipment included laptops, computers, scanners and photocopiers among other items.

Ambassador Qian said the donation represented their heartfelt feelings towards the veterans who had dedicated their lives to serving mankind.

“This is the start of our cooperation and assistance for this organisation and we will see what we can do for our friends in future,” Mr Qian said.

Defence Minister Inia Seruiratu thanked the Chinese Embassy for its continued support and commitment to Fiji.

As veteran affairs fall under the Defence Ministry, Mr Seruiratu said he would like to work together with the association in the future for the betterment of all its members.
