The Fiji Airways Fijian 7s team arrived into the country yesterday without lanky forward Mesulame Kunavula.

According to head coach Gareth Baber, the Nadroumai, Nadroga native is sorting out his contract and visa with Scotland’s Edinburgh Rugby.

The top European club have been after Kuna­vula while Glasgow Warriors have expressed their interest on Fijian 7s captain Kalione Nasoko.

If the deal goes through then Kunavula could be playing alongside Olympian and Fiji Air­ways Flying Fijians No.8 Viliame Mata and Senitiki Nayalo.

“He (Kunavula) is in negotiation with Edin­burgh at the moment and part of that he has to sort his visas and eventually go and take a per­manent contract with Edinburgh,” Baber said.

“As we said before that players are gaining opportunities like this and it is important for them to go and pursue it.”

The club competes in the Pro14, along with Glasgow Warriors, their oldest rival. Edin­burgh play their home games at the Murray­field Stadium. Edited by Leone Cabenatabua
