Suva Grammar School Student Breaks Senior Girls 100m Record

Fane Sauvakacolo of Suva Grammar School broke the senior girls 100m record yesterday.
She clocked 12.87secs during the Suva Zone Two competition at the ANZ Stadium beating the old record of 13.53 set by Mereoni Natau of Lomary High in 2018.
The 19-year old Lutu (Wainibuka), Naitasiri native has also secured a scholarship to study at one of prestigious universities in the United States of America.
Sauvakacolo said she is eyeing to make the A qualifying time for the 2019 Pacific Games in Samoa in July.
“I am really happy for the win today it is a boost for me to prepare myself for the upcoming Coca Cola Games,” Sauvakacolo said.
“I’m also competing in the weekly Athletics Fiji Grand Prix to make the A -qualifying time for the Pacific Games.
“I am aware of the level of competition expected from athletes from other schools and I will need to really work hard on my time as well.
“I would like to dedicate my win today to my loving family and coach Jone Delai for always encouraging me to keep striving for the best.”
Meanwhile, the senior boys’ blue ribbon event was won by Marist Brothers High School athlete Viliame Rekitilako who clocked 10.98secs.
