Board Of Directors

Are you ready for the Pacific Corporate Governance Institute corporate governance week in April?

As board directors and senior executives from medium and large sized companies across different industries, you should be. Why? Because this corporate week is about raising the bar and fostering growth.

Research has shown that when good corporate governance is in place then we will have sound structures and processes to better direct and control the governing of companies.

It improves the efficiency of the private sector and strengthens the overall business climate, which would then lead to more investment and creation of more jobs.

The corporate week has the strong backing of PCGI an independent, non-profit organisation aimed at promoting principles of good corporate governance to companies in Fiji and the broader Pacific region.

The four day programme begins on April 1 with the Corporate Governance Action Planning Workshop, April 2 to 3 would be on Audit Committee Master Programme and April 4 is the Pacific Governance Summit at Suva Grand Pacific Hotel.

The purpose of this workshop is to walk through a methodology to help companies develop a practical approach for implementing sound corporate governance practices.

Good corporate governance can help companies improve performance, increase access to finance, and foster sustained growth.

It is relevant for all types of companies, but will apply differently depending on each company’s particular needs.

The course will be facilitated by international practitioners and follow the IFC Corporate Governance methodology, a proven approach offering an investor’s perspective to good governance.

The course includes many case studies and practical insights on how to apply good governance in both form and function.

Participants will be given time during the course to develop specific action plans for applying good governance practices in their own organisations.

The aim is that participants walk away from the workshop with actionable knowledge to benefit their own company. If you don’t know, PCGI is governed by a board of directors, comprising both private and public- sector representatives.

PCGI was formed with the generous support of the Australian Government and technical guidance by the International Finance Corporation (IFC), a member of the World Bank Group. So make sure you register yourself.

Who knows there could be more in store for you.
