Holi Celebration Cancelled In Nadi As Mark Of Respect
Plots in Christchurch reserved for the victims of the mosque shootings.

The Nadi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (NCCI) has cancelled its plans to celebrate Holi today.

This is because of the mosque shootings in Christchurch that claimed 50 lives.

The gruesome massacre will be remembered for years to come .

The NCCI was said to be shocked and saddened by the course of events.

For these reasons the NCCI president, Ram Raju, said the Holi celebration was now cancelled.

“We all join our hands in praying for the injured that are in hospital and those families who have lost their loved ones.

“As a mark of respect NCCI has decided not to celebrate the Hindu Festival of Holi that was planned for Thursday, March 21st,” Dr Raju said.

“Instead we’ll pray for speedy recovery of shattered lives and shattered families who must be finding extreme difficulties to bear and cope.

“The untimely, unexpected, and unprecedented massacre is unthinkable and incomprehensible. We know for sure it will take a long time to overcome the profound grief and sorrow.

Three Fijians were victims of this senseless murderous act.

“We offer our heartfelt condolences to all the Muslim brothers and sisters at this time of immense grief and sorrow,” Dr Raju said.

“The belief in God, righteousness and faith will ultimately triumph over any obstacle and I’m sure everyone will rise again.

“Let’s all pray at this time of extreme and profound grief for speedy recovery and restoration of lives,”
