If there is anything Fiji Airways Fijian 7s coach Gareth Baber will be focusing on when the two-day Fiji Bitter Marist 7s gets underway today, it will be on potential playmakers.

The national 7s team are lacking in this area after Waisea Nacuqu has been ruled out with a fractured collarbone along with the unavailability of Vatemo Ravouvou and Amenoni Nasilasila.

With a chance to win the 2018/19 World Sevens Series and with the Hong Kong and Singapore 7s around the corner, this is the best tournament for Baber to have a look at the players.

Maestro Waisale Serevi has highlighted the importance of having a superb playmaker because “he would be running the show.”

Top on the playmaker’s list is rookie national 7s rep Terio Tamani who is going to be Tabadamu’s trump card as they target to win the Fiji Bitter Marist 7s for a record fifth-year in a row.

Other potential playmakers are Police Blue captain Livai Ikanikoda, Napolioni Ratu of the Wadigi Salvos side and even veteran William Ryder who could make a surprise appearance in one of the 64 men’s teams.
