More than 30 students in Northern Division will be able to build their own homes after 25 years.

Ministry of Forestry director of operations in the Northern Division Moape Lotawa said this was after they delivered more than 1000 mahogany seedlings to students for free in the past few months.

“During our tree planting programme in schools this year we asked the students who wanted to build their own wooden homes after finishing school,” Mr Lotawa said.

“Those who put their hands up we gave their free mahogany seedlings and advised them how to take care of it.

“So, you see we invested in the lives of the students to have their own property in future. “Out of the 145 schools in Northern Division, we visited 75 schools and planted more than 4000 trees.

“Trees such as fruit trees, trees for shade and mahogany.

“Our ministry has a special team that visited schools to encourage students to plant many trees as possible to reduce the impact of climate change.

“We are encouraging others to plant trees,” Mr Lotawa said.
