Tributes Pour In For Methodist Church’s Reverend Waqainabete

Tributes have started to pour in for late Methodist Church in Fiji and Rotuma deputy general secretary Reverend Jeremaia Waqainabete.
He was originally from Kete-i-ra Village in Moala, Lau, and died in Suva last Saturday. He was in his 60s.
Reverend Waqainabete was appointed the deputy general secretary in August 2017 during the Church’s annual conference. He took up the role in January last year.
He held a Master of Arts in Contextual Theology from Birmingham, United Kingdom and majored in Eco-Theology (Theology of the Environment).
He was a strong advocate for environmental stewardship by the church.
In 2013, while a minister in the Muanikau Circuit of the Suva Division, Reverend Waqainabete had established the Coffee Booth Ministry and personally led a number of social support services through the Wesley City Mission in Suva.
The funeral will be held later this week.
