Judge Orders Accused, No Contact With Complainant
A 27-year-old man of Rakiraki charged with two counts of abduction and one of rape appeared before High Court Judge, Justice Rangajeeva Wimalasena, in Lautoka yesterday.
Eparama Bainivula is alleged to have committed the offences in 2015 when he was 24 years old.
The accused is charged with two counts of abduction of a person under the age of 18 years with intention to have carnal knowledge and one count of rape.
The rape victim was 16 years old at the time of the alleged offences.
Justice Wimalasena told the accused in court that he should not try to make any contact with the complainant because it would affect his bail application.
The State counsel sought time to file and serve information and disclosures.
The accused remains in custody and the matter will be called on April 11.
