Ratu Sukuna, Dudley High Top Suva Zone 1

Ratu Sukuna Memorial School and Dudley High School are the new winners of the 2019 Suva Zone One athletics competition at the ANZ Stadium, Suva yesterday.
RSMS top the boys division with 13 gold, 8 silvers and 8 bronze medals while Nasinu Secondary School came second with 6 gold, 9 silvers and 10 bronze medals and John Wesley College was third with 6 gold, 9 silvers and 2 bronze medals.
Namosi Secondary School finished fourth with 6 gold, 3 silvers and 3 bronze medals. Dudley High claimed the girls division from defending champions Ballantine Memorial School.
The girls from Toorak scooped 12 gold medals, 6 silvers, 5 bronze medals to beat Nasinu Secondary who won 6 gold, 12 silvers and 11 bronze medals while BMS finished third with 9 gold, 10 silvers and 10 bronze medals. RSMS came fourth with 5 gold, three silvers and 6 bronze medals.
RSMS principal Napolioni Silatolu said their athletes have done well to achieve their target.
“We will need to polish a few areas before the Coca- Cola Games,” he said.
“And of the areas is our relay, it did not reach the level we wanted to achieve.”
DHS vice-principal Uraia Toribau said It’s been a while now since Dudley has won the girl’s division after BMS had dominated for the past eight years.
“I want to thank our parents for the hard effort they have gone through in the past six weeks, the coaches and all those teachers who were behind the scene with this success,” Toribau said.
The Coca-Cola Games is from April 16-18.
