The National Fire Authority (NFA) attended to a fire incident that occurred at Rifle Range, Vatuwaqa, yesterday.

The Suva Fire Station was alerted through a call from the home owner at 2.43pm that the house was on fire and immediately dispatched the fire crew.

Upon arrival at 3.07pm, the fire crew found one of the rooms in the house on fire and quickly used one delivery of water from their fire truck to contain the fire to the area of origin and stopping it from further spreading to the rest of the house.

Quick action from the firefighters saved the four-bedroom concrete house from being destroyed.

Acting chief fire officer Waisea Mateiwai was grateful to the firefighters for their quick action and for their persistence in quickly containing the fire to the area of origin.

He also commended the owner of the house for the quick call to the fire brigade.
