The Shore Buses Limited operation manager Aman Singh has called for action after he claimed that some students had vandalised his buses on March 27.

This is not the first time the company vehicles have been vandalised and they hope that those deliberately destroying or damaging their busses would stop.

“The driver was picking and dropping students when this happened. This is not the first time this has happened. This time it is done in one of our new buses,” Mr Singh said.

“These buses are from Indonesia and it costs a lot. It costs $750 for a seat and 15 seats have been vandalised.

They use razor blades or sharp objects to tear the seat covers. They even write vulgar words on the walls of the bus.

“In order to get new seats it would cost me more than $18,000 because of the freight, VAT, duty cost, holding charges and even labour.”

Mr Singh said he hoped that these children were taught not to resort to such acts of vandalism.

“I don’t understand why they are doing this. When they want new buses we bring them and this is what they do.

We are not making much,” he said.

“We want to provide comfortable seats for our passengers, but what can we do when students vandalise the buses.

I hope that parents will talk to their children not to do this.”

Shore Buses Ltd has advised people living around Lami that they will always provide good service to them and for them to look after the buses properly.

Questions to Police regarding the incident remained unanswered when this edition went to press.
