Close family members and friends gathered at the residence of Anjita Devi Singh in Kulukulu, Sigatoka on Wednesday night to remember her late father, Sital Singh.

Mr Singh, a 55-year-old taxi driver allegedly lost his life in an accident on Wednesday afternoon along the Queens Road near Kulukulu in Sigatoka.

His son-in-law, Vimal Nand said it was still shocking and sad for the family and they were still trying to come to terms with his loss.

Mr Nand said his father Sachida Nand who is also a taxi driver heard a loud noise around 2pm yesterday.

“My father was at Sami’s garage fixing his taxi when he heard a loud bang,” he said.

“When he rushed to the scene he saw my father-in-law lying under a truck with a part of his body under one of the wheels.”

He said his father immediately rushed him to the Sigatoka Hospital.

Police Spokesperson, Ana Naisoro said the accused was heading towards Nadi and the victim who was walking along the side of the road allegedly jumped onto the road and was hit by the truck.

She said the suspect was yet to be questioned as investigations were continuing.

The truck allegedly bumped Sital Singh in Kulukulu, Sigatoka on April 3.
