751 Men Swap Nude Pictures Through A Viber Community

Police are investigating allegations that 751 males are exchanging nude images of girls through a Viber community.

Apart from exchanging nude images and videos, people are charging $10 for every contact detail of the girls whose photos they share.

This came to light after Fiji Sun was contacted by a person and sent the link of the Viber community.

With more than 1 billion users worldwide, Viber is a free calling and messaging App that connects people – wherever they are – through high-quality audio and video calls, messaging and much more.

When this issue went to press, 751 males had joined the group.

Fiji Sun has identified a number of people who are in the community and all details together with the phone contacts of those men have been forwarded to Police.

Fiji Sun has also linked the Viber details of those contacts to the Facebook accounts of those boys and men.

Some who are exchanging the photographs are as young as Year 9 students.

Details of the schools they attend have also been forwarded to Police.

There are also young professionals and some married men, who are old enough to be fathers of the girls whose images are being circulated, who have also been identified.

Their details have also been forwarded to Police.

Police Commissioner Brigadier-General Sitiveni Qiliho said: “It is disturbing and disgusting behaviour to be treating women and young girls like a commodity they can trade.

“The photos seem like they were exchanged or extracted without their knowledge and it is sickening to know that money is being offered in exchange for their personal details by the so called administrators.

“We are going to conduct a thorough investigation and ensure those behind the sharing of these photos are dealt with.

“Again, we ask members of the public to be careful about the types of photos you share with people, especially those you don’t completely know … because there has been case a of leaked photos stemming from revenge.”

Meanwhile, a separate investigation is ongoing into another local porn ring allegation.

A 23-year-old man was questioned and released last week after allegations that naked photos of men were exchanged to lure people from overseas to come to Fiji.
