The Fiji Airways Fijian 7s team are playing Argentina in today’s Hong Kong 7s Cup quarterfinals at 3.20pm.

This was after the Gareth Baber- coached side beat New Zealand 24-5 to top Pool C last night.

Before the match, captain Paula Dranisinukula presented a special gift to his New Zealand counterpart Scott Curry as a show of respect for those affected by the Christchurch tragedy.

Fiji started strongly with tries to Aminiasi Tuimaba, Vilimoni Botitu and Livai Ikanikoda who also converted two tries for a 19-0 lead at halftime.

It was a stop and start affair in the second half due to handling errors before Fiji extended their lead to 24-0 with a try from Apenisa Cakaubalavu. Joe Ravouvou scored New Zealand’s consolation try.

Today’s Cup quarterfinals:

2.58pm South Africa v USA, 3.20pm Fiji v Argentina, 3.42pm England v Samoa, 4.07pm France v New Zealand.

This means, barring upsets in the quarterfinals, Fiji will meet South Africa or the USA in the semi- finals (7.41pm)
