Man Threaten Lautoka Traffic Officers With Cane Knife

A man will be produced at the Lautoka Magistrates Court tomorrow for allegedly threatening traffic officers with a cane knife during a routine check along Anupam in Lautoka on Thursday morning.

The suspect was pursued through Lautoka City after he allegedly refused to stop when directed to.

He was eventually stopped and when the officers approached the driver he allegedly grabbed a cane knife and chased the officers, got back in his car and drove off again.

The suspect drove through Ravouvou street and into the driveway of a house and the traffic team blocked off the entrance and waited for back up.

The suspect who was allegedly drunk then threw stones at the Police vehicle and drove off again towards the Namoli Industrial Area.

The suspect was pursued by officers from the Western Division Taskforce where despite his efforts to resist arrest was eventually overpowered and taken into custody.

He has been charged with 3 counts of serious assault and one count of resisting arrest.
