The Fiji Airways Fijian 7s team have arrived in Singapore on Monday night and are working on their recovery process.

Speaking to SUNsports yesterday coach Gareth Baber confirmed that they are going to have an intensive training session today.

“We just had our recovery session in the pool and got them (players) eating and hydrating correctly,” he said.

“Obviously the process of recovery starts after the match on Sunday in Hong Kong.”

“So, Monday became like a travel day for us as we got here about 8pm. And it’s very much getting our lotu (devotion) and food sorted out.

“Also getting the boys to bed on time as sleep is one of the methods of recovery.”

Baber said they also visited the children’s hospital.

“That’s important as well to re-establish the level of humility that we need to have and through that we had a win which is fantastic.

“We also realised that we have people in life who are not so privileged enough and it’s good that we were able to remember them.”

The Welshman said Thursday would be another recovery day for them before the two-day tournament starts on Saturday.

Baber said another issue they have been emphasising to the players is the need to control their emotions on the field and deliver the quality of performance expected of them.

“We have to be careful on the emotion that surrounds us as it can contribute towards lack of consistency.

“That is how players don’t stick to the plan and for every tournament that’s a challenge for this team.

“So basically what we want our players’ to have is to be able to control their emotions on the field,” Baber added.
