Fiji 7s Rugby: Tomasi Cama Targets Discipline

Sevens Rugby player and coach, legend Tomasi Cama Snr will target discipline in his new role as mentor for the Fiji Airways Fijian 7s team, it has been revealed.
Fiji Rugby Union chief executive officer John O’Connor spoke of this yesterday, saying Cama was settling in nicely.
He said Cama was brought into the team to mentor the players and help address the importance of discipline.
“After we had a few disciplinary issues with the players we decided to get in someone of Cama’s calibre,” O’Connor said.
“Cama as we all know was a disciplined player during his rugby days and also he was the fit- test. We need someone like him in the team as the players look up to him and he’s there to talk to them.”
The Gareth Baber-coached side are rated 11th in terms of experience out of the 16 participating teams in the 2018/19 HSBC World Sevens Series.
O’Connor confirmed that Cama would be accompanying the team to the remainder of the tournaments in the Series and also to next year’s Olympic Games in Tokyo, Japan.
Cama was one of the stars of the late Ratu Kitione Tuibua-coached side that scored a hat-trick of wins at the Hong Kong 7s from 1990 to 1992.
He also made the national fifteens team and played at centre during the 1987 Rugby World Cup where they beat Argentina 28-9 in the pool game to qualify for the Cup quarterfinal.
