Sigatoka Town Council was told to allow vendors to sell their produce in what ever ways they wish, especially the vendors from Navosa.

This issue was raised during a talanoa session at the Government Services Expo that was held at Vatumali Government Station in Keiyasi, Navosa.

Sigatoka Health Inspector Anand Pillay said that majority of the vendors chose to sell their produce outside of the market rather than inside.

“We cannot do anything because the vendors from Navosa prefer to sell outside the market,” Mr Pillay said.

“There were vendors who have occupied the tables in the market and also want to take their produce outside because they make better sales outside.”

“We gave them the whole car park to sell their produce. The market was built for them, but they choose otherwise.” he added.

Mr Bainimarama told the Mr Pillay to allow the vendors to sell their produce where they wished, especially vendors from the highlands of Navosa who have travelled long distances to sell.

This was after Noikoro district representative Semi Leidua claimed that their vendors were not given much space in the market and were selling outside shop corridors.
