Fiji Teachers Union will be having their national elections this Saturday April 13 at 23 polling stations around the country.

The elections will be conducted by the Fijian Elections Office to elect two Vice Presidents and three Executive Committee Members.

There are four candidates contesting the two Vice Presidents position namely; Arvind Kumar, Pranesh Praveen Sharma, Nakul Barman Deo and Rohitesh Sandeep Kumar.

Six candidates will also be vying for the three executive committee members posts. They are Brij Bhan Singh, Sima Diveka Kumar, Madhur Prakash, Dharmend Shankar, Pratosh Kumar and Mohammed Feroz Ali.

Supervisor of Elections Mohammed Saneem is calling on all members of the FTU to turn up and vote.

“We have set up 23 Polling Venues to ensure that the 5,156 FTU members around the country have an opportunity to vote. All polling venues will open at 9am on Saturday except for the Levuka Primary School which opens at 10am,” he said.

“We are using schools as Polling Venues – nine in the Western Division, eight in the Northern Division and six in the Central Division, so members will be able to find their nearest location quite easily.

The same information has been shared with the Union and is available on the FEO Facebook page.

“Unlike the General Election where voters are assigned their polling venue, members of the FTU can cast their vote at any Polling Venue provided that their name appears in the Voter List and they have a valid photo ID.”

The results of the FTU National Election are expected on Tuesday April 16 after the counting is completed.
