The Fiji Police Force is carrying out investigations where an inmate was allegedly assaulted at the Labasa Corrections Centre.
This was confirmed by Police spokesperson Ana Naisoro on Thursday.
“On Thursday (April 4) a health official reported that a 32-year-old serving prisoner was allegedly assaulted inside the cell block at Vaturekuka,” Ms Naisoro said.
“We are carrying out the investigation.”
Meanwhile, when Fiji Sun contacted Fiji Corrections Service deputy commissioner Apimeleki Taukei he said he wasn’t aware about this incident but would follow up with his officers.
