Young Napolioni Ratu is raring to make his World Sevens Series debut in Singapore this weekend.

Playing for Wadigi Salvos, the Yasawa native’s speed, kicking skills and footwork caught the attention of national coach Gareth Baber.

Ratu was drafted into the extended national 7s squad.

Baber said Ratu had proved himself during the build-up sessions this week and across the season.

“I’m excited to see him get a chance to play. Napolioni is a young man who is blessed with talent,” Baber said.

“We’ve worked together a lot and now it’s time to see how he turns that talent into international potential.”

Ratu takes over from Terio Tamani, who is rested this weekend.

Namosi winger Asaeli Tuivoka still remains the 13th player. He will only play if one of the 12 players is injured and ruled out by the tournament doctor.

Today, the Fijians take on Canada at 4.36pm before facing Scotland at 8.02pm and South Africa at 11.28pm.

Fiji: Sevuloni Mocenacagi, Josua Vakurunabili, Isoa Tabu, Paula Dranisinukula (C), Apenisa Cakaubalavu, Meli Derenalagi, Filimoni Botitu, Livai Ikanikoda, Jerry Tuwai, Alasio Naduva, Aminiasi Tuimaba, Napolioni Ratu, Asaeli Tuivoka.
