Suva lawyer Granted Bail

Suva lawyer Shazran Abdul Lateef, who is facing two counts of theft charges, has been granted bail by the Magistrates Court in Suva.

58-year-old Lateef, who is facing theft charges, appeared before Magistrate Liyanage Wickramasekara.

He was released on a cash bail of $5000 and two sureties bail bond on the sum of $5000 each.

Lateef was also ordered to report to Totogo Police Station every Tuesday between 8am and 4pm.

He was also ordered not to reoffend with strict bail conditions imposed.

A travel ban was also placed for Lateef not to leave the country while the case was pending.

Lateef was represented by Filimoni Vosarogo.

The matter has been adjourned to April 25 for mention.

The charges:
For the first count of theft

It is alleged that Lateef with others on January 18, 2019, at Suva, dishonestly appropriated or stole three Samsung J6 mobile phones valued at $1797, the property of Vodafone Fiji Limited.

For the second count of theft

It is alleged that Lateef with others on December 28, 2018, at Suva, dishonestly appropriated or stole three Ruio i7 tablets valued at $597, the property of Vodafone Fiji Limited.
