The Fiji Airways Fijian 7s team are on track to win the 2018/19 HSBC World Sevens Series trailing leaders USA by three points.

The Fijians lost 20-19 to South Africa in the Cup final of the Singapore 7s last night.

The Gareth Baber-coached side took a commanding 19-0 lead into half time with tries from Aminiasi Tuimaba, Napolioni Ratu and Vilimoni Botitu.

But the Africans hit back with 20 unanswered second half points to claim the final.

The Fijians go into the London and Paris leg of the Series with a real chance of winning the overall title, provided they repeat the performance from the Asian leg.

The London 7s is on May 25-26, before the team head to Paris on June 1-2 for the final tournament. The top four teams from the Series qualify
automatically for the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games in Japan.
