Nursing Students To Get Experience At State Homes

Students from the Fiji National University and the Sangam Institute of Technology’s School of Nursing will now have an opportunity for hands-on experience in caring for elderly persons.
This comes after a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) was signed between the Ministry of Women, Children and Poverty Alleviation and the two institutions in Suva yesterday.
Permanent Secretary Jennifer Poole said students would receive placement at either of the ministry’s three state homes for the elderly.
“It marks another milestone in terms of partnership to harness the application of theory in prac Fiji National University tice with student placement in the state homes,” Ms Poole said.
She added that the ministry in collaboration with the eight Aged Care facilities in Fiji, has also developed the National Minimum Standards for Institutional Homes on the Care of Older Persons.
