Coke Games 2019: Shawntell Breaks 6-Year-Old Record
Shawntell Lockington

Shawntell Lockington put on a record breaking performance to win the gold medal in the senior girl’s high jump final yesterday

Shawntell’s new record of 1.68m erased the old record of 1.65m held by Diana Maranikaibau of Holy Cross College in 2013. Coming second was Tuliana Tinai of Jasper Williams High School (1.55m) and Josifini Tinairokowaqa of Suva Grammar School (1.50m).

“I’m happy to have broken a six-year-old record even though I didn’t reach my target which was higher than this,” the Xavier Colleges student from Ba said

“After my win today I wish to continue improving my performance and hopefully get to represent Fiji at international competitions.

“And there is a special person that I would dedicate my record breaking performance and that is my cousin Loraine Sivivatu who I believe has got the gift of healing.

“I had previously sustained some injuries and with her healing touch I couldn’t feel any pain while competing and also to my loved ones back at home for supporting me.”
