Local Staff Replace Indians At MIOT Pacific Hospital

More local doctors and nurses have been hired at the Madras Institute of Orthopaedics and Traumatology (MIOT) Pacific Hospitals in Suva to fill the void that has been left by their Indian counterparts who have returned to India.
This comes after reports of issues between the two business partners BSP Life and MIOT International operating under the company name Oceania Hospitals Pte Limited trading as MIOT Pacific Hospitals.
A doctor told the Fiji Sun that there was a contract dispute.
It is understood that MIOT International management team are still in the negotiation process with BSP Life. BSP Life owns the hospital property in Toorak.
It previously operated it as Suva Private Hospital before the partnership with MIOT International in 2017.
Comments from senior execs
BSP Life Managing Director Michael Nacola, says he will soon be issuing a statement with regards to the overall operations.
However, Managing Director of MIOT International Hospital Dr Prithvi Mohandas, sent a message via WhatsApp saying kindly reach out to executive director Mr Pramesh Sharma who will update.
Mr Sharma, who is a senior BSP Life executive referred all comments to MIOT Pacific general manager David Qumivutia.
When contacted Mr Qumivutia asked if the queries could be sent to him and he would get relevant people to respond.
It is also understood that the MIOT Pacific Hospitals had earlier closed its labour unit, with mothers being referred to CWM Hospital, Morrison Maternity Unit in Suva.
A medical officer also said MIOT Pacific had lately been referring some of its patients to the successful Nasese Medical Centre.
This is currently expanding its property in Ratu Sukuna Road.
MIOT Pacific Hospitals has temporarily suspended its CT and Heart Angio testing until further notice.
They are working with suppliers and technical support providers to normalise services at the earliest.
