Ratu Kadavulevu School will host a thanksgiving service in Lodoni today to celebrate their back to back victories in the 2019 Coca-Cola Games.

The Tailevu school defended the boys division winning 14 gold,11 silvers and 10 bronze medals. Marist Brothers High School second (9, 17, 6) and Suva Grammar School third (6, 5, 5).

RKS team manager John Levy said they faced a lot of challenges during their preparation but managed to achieve their goal.

“We will have our Easter and thanksgiving service together in school,” Levy said.

“We went through a lot during our preparation one of which is financial constraints. We ended up in a situation where parents were not able to give funds to assist athletes.

“We’re grateful to the school which helped us achieve our target.

“It was not easy for us to defend our title as it came with a lot of commitment, dedication, hard work and sacrifice, not an easy journey for us.”

RKS won 6 gold medals in the field events which includes Vilimoni Susunikoro’s breaking a record in the sub junior boys javelin event and 8 gold medals in the track events which includes the famous blue ribbon event which was won by Kolinio Radrudru.

It was an exciting 2019 games where North, West and island schools gave a strong competition in the boys division.

The boys from Delainakaikai had their strength in the sub junior boys winning overall with 5 gold medals, 2 silver and 1 bronze.

They also took out the senior boys division with 7 gold, 3 silver and 2 bronze medals.

MBHS won the overall junior and intermediate boys title with 3 gold and 2 silver medals and 4 gold , 4 silver and 2 bronze medals respectively.
