Eleven swimmers have qualified for the Team Fiji squad for the 2019 Pacific Games in Samoa, Apia on July 7-20.

There are seven male swimmers and four female swimmers that have met the qualification time.

The male swimmers are Herbert Rabua, Taichi Vakasama, Netani Ross, Temafa Yalimaiwai, Hansel Makei, Hefu Erasito and Jeremiah Faktoufon while the female swimmers are Moana Wines, Matelita Buadromo, Rosemary Rova and Maryanne Kotobalavu.

Fiji Swimming president Ben Rova said the Fiji Games was the final dress rehearsal to allow the swimmers to get a feel of the actual competition in July.

“We had three teams competing at the five day competition which are Rotuma, Suva and Nadi,” Rova said

“Our aim of hosting this competition is to replicate the games in Samoa where the competition is actually spread over five days.

“We have prepared the participants so they get a feel for what to expect at the actual games.

“So, this lot has made the time qualification so far but we are still awaiting other swimmers that could possibly make the team selection as we have 16 spots in total for the swimming.

“And due to the bad weather we didn’t have results as expected but hopefully that will change in the coming days.”
